Overview

Sundays is a social platform that understands that keeping in touch with friends can be very tough when transitioning into adulthood. I was tasked with helping Sundays envision and redesign a platform that helps users maintain authentic and intimate relationships no matter how busy or far a loved one may be.

I was handed a web application that had a functional design that was able to support the goal of keeping friendships close and up to date, but there was a lot of opportunity for improvement. After rounds of user testing and user interviews, I began implementing feedback into the redesign below.

Sign-up & onboarding

In addition to creating a simple mobile sign-up process, we wanted to share what our app was all about by creating an onboarding flow.

Create Post

Changes to the “create post” process involved...

Liking & Commenting

After much discussion we decided to add likes and commenting. This was a tough decision because we don’t want people posting just for likes and affirmation. We also didn’t want users to message back and forth on our app, given that a phone call is much more effective in maintaining relationships. We decided to counter this by...

Likes

Only seen by the creator (eliminating the competition for receiving more likes than others)

Commenting

Allow users only one comment with a character cap. (this was done in order to push users to call others)

Add Friends

Originally friends could only be added through text messages. A big priority was to keep invitations within the application so users don’t have to hop in and out of the experience. So we included a flow that allowed users to view other users and sync contacts.
